Running Partner

I'm so proud all of us got out this weekend to work out!  Vince and I drove to the path by the river and jogged this morning.  He ran behind me so I set the pace and he kept track of the time.  We ran 5 minutes, walked 1 minute for nine times for a total of 4.35 miles in 55 minutes (We made it from Argyle to Devon).  It's a little slower than I go on the treadmill - I usually average a little over 11 minute miles, but today was closer to 12/12.5 minute miles.  It was great for me because Vince kept track of the time so I wasn't constantly checking the time and playing mind games.  Instead, I just kept running until he ran up to me and said it was time to walk.  We both ran with our headphones in, but turned them off and talked for the 1 minute breaks.

I'm feeling much more hopeful about running outside since this was such a good experience.   Mom - you are right that the weather today was perfect - the overcast sky and breezes were nice.  I'm hopeful we'll have good weather on race day!  I wish I could run on this path for every run, but I think by the time I would be done on weeknights, it would be too dark.  So I think I'll stick with treadmill during the week and outside on weekends.  Now time to relax and enjoy Sunday Funday!

  1. Good for you. I was on that path this morning too. I did my big circle since Weather.com said there could be scattered showers. I clocked another 10k circle without even intending to. It's 3.1 miles to the top of the river trail so I could turn around there and come back or more likely walk streets back home. I think it is so great that you and Vince are doing this together.
