So...I've spent quite a bit of time researching our options and here is what I have come up with. What if we would do the Flying Pig race in Cincinnati on Saturday May 5 and then on Sunday hop on a plane together to vacation in St. Petersburg? I have found some beach houses that are do-able and available. I also found out that airfare from Cincinnati is cheaper than from Chicago. United had fares @ $268 with one stop.

All of this research makes me want to get up and get going. I noticed our posts have dwindled. Have we lost momentum. I know I have, but I'm getting revved up again.
Let me know what you think and if you like, I'll pursue further. Meanwhile, I'll check with a friend who lives in St. Petersburg for other ideas.
Just remembered that this might not work so well for Kristi since she has an event on the 12th. Back to the drawing board. Actually, I'm loving the idea of a beach vacation in May...after we do our 10K. Later in the month works better for me too. So maybe we do the 10K in Cincinnati on May 5 and then go to Florida later in the month.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of doing the pig...it frees us up to go anywhere for vacation instead of being limited to where the races are. Beach vacation sounds great to me! Also, our church is manning a water stop aling the marathon route on Sunday...so if we ran the 10k on Saturday we could then help pass out water to racers on Sunday which would be fun. :)
ReplyDeleteOne concern I have--the voucher I was planning to use for my flight expires around May 12th (one year from when it was issued). Just realized that yesterday.
I like the idea of the pig, too. We can just take Friday off for a travel day, race on Saturday and then be heading home by Sunday. That will be best for my work schedule. Then end of May would be good for vacation for me. Katie - looks like you and Levi will have to fly to Chicago before then so you can use your voucher. :)
